Actor Ewan McGregor takes a road trip on an electric Harley-Davidson

How cool is this! Cross South America with your best buddy on an (electric!) Motorcycle. British actor Ewan McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman drive from Ushuaia in Argentina via South and Central America to Los Angeles in the United States. Their trip can be seen in the new series Long Way Up on Apple TV +.

Continuation of previous trips

It follows on from the 2004 Long Way Round, where the couple drove from London to New York and then Long Way Down in 2007, as they drove south from John o ‘Groats in Scotland through eighteen countries in Europe and Africa to Cape Town. South Africa.

The first three episodes of Long Way Up premiered worldwide on Friday, September 18, 2020, and seven new episodes will be released weekly through November 6.

Electric Harley-Davidsons

The two friends ride very special motorcycles this time. They drive nearly 13,000 miles on electric Harley-Davidsons in 100 days .

The Harley-Davidson LiveWire has a high-voltage battery. The battery delivers a minimum of 158 km (city range). It is an enormous challenge for friends. Because it soon turns out that the chance that you will be without power in the middle of South America is quite high.

And if you think that there is ‘cheating’: the support trucks that transport the crew are also electric.
