‘Day in Day Out’ is one of the nine short films from the ‘One Night Stand 3′ series. The idea of ​​this collection of short films is to give young, talented directors the opportunity to make a short film that will eventually be shown on television. ‘Day in and day out’ is by Ties Schenk. In 2006 she won the Cinekid Kinderkast Jury Prize and the Golden Cinekid Kinderkast for her graduation project ‘Docklands’. In 2007 she again won the Golden Cinekid Kinderkast with her film ‘Donkeygirl’.

‘Day in and day out’ is about the daily life of a group of people who live together in the street. They take the bus to work at the same time every day. Every day has the same routine. Some people know each other, others don’t. Everyone is trapped in his or her own rut, but none of them are unhappy. That rut is suddenly broken when one of them dies. People who are stuck in a rut want nothing more than an unexpected event that gives their lives more color. If this unexpected event means death, however, it’s a different story. Isn’t the daily routine something we much prefer? Can’t we be happy with our ordinary life? These questions are the theme of the film ‘Day in Day Out’.

Ties Schenk has already won a lot of respect with her awards. For this film she immediately has a top cast at her disposal, including Monic Hendrickx and Eva van de Wijdeven. ‘Day in day out’ is a fun film, in which little happens in the end, but which will be thought about. And that is exactly what a filmmaker wants to achieve, so Ties Schenk and screenwriter Devika Strooker have certainly succeeded.
