Software update: SUMo 5.16.3

KC Softwares has released version 5.16.3 of SUMo. SUMo, which stands for Software Update Monitor, is a program that scans the computer for existing software and then checks whether newer versions are available. By installing one driver agent can also check it for new drivers. The free version only informs you of which programs a newer version is available and offers a link to a general search page on the KC Softwares website. The pro version often provides better download links that lead directly to the manufacturer’s download page, but updating remains a manual process, so you always have full control over your own system.

The pro version also has the option to update SUMo yourself to a newer version and can also see whether computers connected to the local network have the latest updates via a clear web page. In addition to the default installer, there is also a portable version available, which can do its job without having to be installed first. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

• 0007058: “Onetastic for Microsoft OneNote (64 bits) by ATAY LLC” should not be filtered as Microsoft Product

• 0007090: “Jump Desktop Client” confused with “Jump Desktop Connect”
• 0007056: Missing company name for “Pulse Secure”
• 0007116: “Pulse Secure” company name rationalization
• 0007070: CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe to be filtered out (Citrix Workspace installer)
• 0007106: Update ICS library to 8.70 and OpenSSL to 3.0.7
• 0007100: SUMo shall distinguish “Edge Insiders” (Beta / Dev / Canary) from “Edge”
• 0007105: “ActivationClient by Softland” to be filtered out (dependancy)
• 0007096: Incorrect version reported for “Adobe Acrobat (64 bits) ” (Set-up.exe to be filtered out)
