Review: Whiplashed (2008)

Directed by: Arnoud Rijken | 5 minutes | animation, short film

In the animated short “Whiplashed”, we witness a male victim of a car accident waking up. A passerby pulls him out of the dented car that crashed into a tree. His female driver is less fortunate, she appears to be dead. What happened? The man is taken to hospital by ambulance and in the ambulance the memories begin to come back: these fragments gently solve the problem. The form in which ‘Whiplashed’ was cast is the most special: director Arnoud Rijken – co-founder and owner of animation production house il Luster – uses a striking and inventive technique by processing real film images with the computer into animation images. The unnatural colors enhance the animation effect. Very clever and original made. See if you get the chance!
