The movie “The Ten Lives of Titanic the Cat” (“Titanics ti liv” or “The Ten Lives of Titanic the Cat”) is a ghost story about 11-year-old Liv and her boyfriend Thomas. Liv lives with her parents and her brother Erling in Oslo. Her birthday is approaching and her greatest wish will be fulfilled for her birthday: she will accompany her family on the maiden voyage of the steamship Danaworld and she will also be allowed to fly in a helicopter. Liv can hardly wait for it to arrive. But a few days before her birthday, strange things happen in the basement of the apartment complex where Liv lives.
Along with Thomas, her best friend, Liv tries to find out what’s going on. They discover an old photo depicting two girls and a cat. Suddenly the cat comes to life and jumps out of the picture. Liv is so startled that she faints. When she regains consciousness, she is in the hospital. The doctor thinks she’s had an asthma attack, but Liv knows she hasn’t. She is convinced that strange happenings are taking place in the basement, which started when they discovered the mysterious photo.
When Liv returns home, they discover a secret pantry. Liv finds herself having visions when she touches the pantry door. She decides to find out what’s going on with Thomas. Is someone trying to tell her something? Does it have anything to do with the disaster of a century ago? Not one of the adults believes Liv and Thomas’s story, except for an old neighbor who helps them uncover the mystery of the cat.
‘The Ten Lives of Titanic the Cat’ is a fun and exciting youth film. The sympathetic lead actress Tiril Eeg-Henriksen (13 years old) has been a member of a theater group since she was five. The role of Liv is her debut and she plays the part convincingly. One of the other protagonists is a very special one: Tigris, a Maine Coon cat of no less than eleven kilos, who plays the role of Titanic the cat and does so in a majestic way. ‘The Ten Lives of Titanic the Cat’ is therefore recommended not only to horror movie fans, but also to cat and other animal lovers.
