New Kids Nitro (2011)
Directed by: Steffen Haars, Flip van der Kuil | 78 minutes | comedy | Actors: Steffen Haars, Flip van der Kuil, Huub Smit, Tim Haars, Wesley van Gaalen
Whether it’s ‘damn mongul!’ is, or ‘such a fireball, young…’. The use of language by the New Kids has made rapid advances in the Netherlands. At least as popular are the characters who spew this foul mouth and the accompanying film and television series. A second film was therefore inevitable and so in ‘New Kids Nitro’ you can brace yourself for the next round of foul language, disgusting jokes and vulgar violence. ‘Bam!’
In this sequel to the unexpectedly successful ‘New Kids Turbo’, Rikkert, Richard, Gerrie, Barry and Robbie once again take on a neighboring village in Brabant. This time they get into a fight with one Dave from Schijndel. It is unbearable for the New Kids that this fellow aso regularly visits the much-loved Maaskantje. When Rikkert also gets a crush on Dave’s pregnant girlfriend, the fence is completely gone. So it’s time to give those fagots from Schijndel a good laugh! As you can feel, this causes more problems than it solves and before they know it, the New Kids find themselves in a situation again from which they can only get out of overestimation. Well… and the necessary beer and snacks of course, because starting your adventure sober is not an option for the gentlemen.
In addition to the usual violence and insults, this time they also compete in smashing street races. The green racing monster of the New Kids comes in handy this time. Especially when you run into some ‘vampires’ later in the film. After all, what is clear is that the gentlemen have clearly understood what a sequel must meet: more explosions, more action and more cumshots. After all, if you read between the lines, you will also see that this second part actually tells exactly the same story as the first, but the addition of enough punches, shotguns and zombies ensures that this is hardly noticeable.
However, there are a few minor innovations. For example, slightly bigger roles have been set aside for well-known characters from the first part, such as the dodgy police officer Harrie with his typical mustache and the owner of snack bar ‘t Pleintje. In this part we also get to know Richard’s mother and the film has a brand new character in the form of folk singer Ronnie, who of course already received some media attention because of the hit ‘Fuck whores, never again’ with Corrie Konings.
People who didn’t like the first part will not be convinced by this second adventure. In fact, they will probably only hate the boys from Maaskantje even more. Especially when some jokes really go over the line this time (‘Hop! Get on the train with it!’). For fans of the first part and all the skits, ‘New Kids Nitro’ will please you, as long as you’re happy with more of the same. We’ll have to see if a third film is also fun, but for the time being the rack is not yet over with the New Kids.
