In the Toy Story show ‘Hawaiian Vacation’, a Pixar short that was shot in theaters before ‘Cars 2’, and which is included as an extra on the DVD and Blu-ray of ‘Cars 2’, the toy from ‘Toy Story 3’ are preparing for a Bonnie-free week. It’s Christmas vacation and Bonnie is about to leave for sunny Hawaii with her mother. Ken and Barbie are also prepared, but for a few days of sun and beach. They’ve hidden in Bonnie’s backpack, assuming that they can go to the warm resort without being seen. Ken in particular has been looking forward to the outing for weeks, for very romantic reasons…
When the two dolls climb out of the backpack, assuming the destination has been reached, Ken is closer to crying than laughing. They didn’t go at all! Of course, Bonnie left her school backpack at home. Woody, Buzz and Jessie soon hatch a plan to give the two dolls in love a Christmas vacation to remember. They come a long way with many inventive and creative solutions. Barbie herself takes care of the closing…
‘Hawaiian Vacation’ is a very funny Pixar short. Seeing the heroes from ‘Toy Story 3’ again is very pleasant. The quality of the ‘Toy Story’ films is absolutely maintained, both visually and in terms of humor. The premise may not feel completely original and it produces a light and airy film, but nevertheless it is a must for lovers of the famous Pixar Shorts and fans of ‘Toy Story’.
