Welcome to this smash fest called ‘Gothic & Lolita Psycho’! The ritual murder of her mother drives Yuki (Rina Akiyama) to cause death and destruction. In a dark and gruesome ‘underworld’, she hunts down her mother’s five murderers with her deadly umbrella. Yuki changes into a demonic figure for this.

The intro to this J-horror film is as absurd as it is nasty when we see the greedy doorman of a dark nightclub smoking his spaghetti. A somewhat intoxicating and freakish atmosphere takes over these opening minutes. Equally macabre is the nightclub itself: a kind of casino where the lives of apparently imprisoned mortals are played with. And so ‘Gothic & Lolita Psycho’ has already established itself before main character Yuki has even been able to reveal himself. It’s not a long wait, though. The nightclub turns out to be home to one of Yuki’s first victims.

But what else can be said about a film that obviously doesn’t rely on its depth? Simply that this one has little story, contains many fight scenes, has bloody scenes and that all this is reviewed within a manageable time frame of barely one and a half hours. A lot has already been said with the designation splatfest. And who expects more than that?

The role of Yuki is therefore played by actress Rina Akiyama, whose nickname is ‘Queen of the beautifull ass’. Something that also needs no further explanation. By the way, in ‘Gothic & Lolita Psycho’ she puts her nickname aside for a while.

The film was shot in Tokyo, where it was also screened at the Tokyo International Film Festifal. Director Go Ohara knows how to let the blood flow freely in a film that certainly doesn’t make you drowsy. For a good portion of horror: ‘Gothic & Lolita Psycho’.
