Review: Gone Fishing (2017)
Gone Fishing (2017)
Directed by: Ron Clements, John Musker, Don Hall, Chris Williams | 3 minutes | animation, short film, family, fantasy | Original Voice Cast: Auli’i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson
‘Gone Fishing’ is a short film that was added as an extra by Disney to the Blu-ray of ‘Vaiana’ (‘Moana’ in the original version). In ‘Gone Fishing’ we see Moana interacting with the ocean in her special way, when Maui wakes up from hunger. His stomach is rumbling and that is literally causing some commotion at his tattoos. Unceremoniously, he pushes Moana aside and tries to catch a fish with his magic hook. But the ocean has other plans.
‘Gone Fishing’ is beautifully animated and causes a smile here and there, but it doesn’t say much more than that. It might as well have been a deleted scene from the main movie, which you shouldn’t miss. Nice to have seen for the people who have Moana and Maui in their hearts.
