What’s the point of a review? Does the opinion of someone who has seen dozens of films and pays attention to unimportant things like lighting, camera positioning, acting and the script add value? If you want to have a carefree laugh with a few friends, you can’t wait for the comments of a sour critic? You will have to answer these questions with ‘not’ and ‘no’ if you are going to watch ‘Bon Bini Holland 2’. The chance is nil that an accomplished film viewer will recommend this production…
‘Bon Bini Holland 2’ revolves around Robertico (Jandino Asporaat). Just when he wants to propose to his girlfriend Noella (Liliana de Vries) on Curaçao, she decides to take a ‘time-out’. Robertico is determined to win her back and flies back to the Netherlands after her. Upon arrival, competition appears to be lurking: the attractive ideal son-in-law Christiaan. Robertico decides to ask his old FC Kip friends for help. Together with Sydney, Rajesh, Gerrie and Aunt Judeska, Robertico does everything he can to win Noella’s heart again.
Asporaat is a comedian you hate or appreciate: there is no in-between. His screaming demeanor and flat jokes aren’t everyone’s cup of tea (or to be more in style: cup of chicken bones). The characters in this movie are quite questionable. Gerrie is a racist lady who continuously spews discriminatory texts, Ling Ling is an accumulation of racist clichés and that also applies to the Turkish Ahmet and Judeska. These characters – they are not characters – are all played by Asporaat, except for Ling Ling.
The humor of this film consists of crass jokes that are strangely approved by the film company. In this politically correct time where every comment from celebs is weighed by millions of people, that can be called a miracle. The statements of Gerrie and associates would mean the end of the career of anyone who would use such texts on social media. In this movie you can laugh about it, while in real life it should make you angry. It shows guts that Asporaat dared to push his gross humor through.
Well. Is ‘Bon Bini Holland 2’ fun? If you can laugh at rude jokes about different cultures, this is for you. If you like Asporaat, then this is a must. If you expect deeper laughter in your humor, convincing acting, moments of rest and a story, then this is not recommended.
