Synopsis: Raju Tarachand (Saif Ali Khan) is an unemployed graduate who comes to Mumbai in search of a job leaving behind his uncle and aunt in Nainital who wanted him to carry on his ancestral business. However, he gets himself into trouble from day 1 when he is conned by a clever cook Charlie D’souza (Chunky Pandey) who steals his car. When Raju finally manages to get hold of Charlie, he realises that Charlie has already sold off his car to pay off his debts. Raju in return wants to stay at his place till he finds a job and settles down on his own. When Raju goes to the company where he had an appointment letter, he finds out that that company is bankrupt and has no more money to even pay its staff. Forcefully, Raju accepts the job of a peon in the same office. There, he meets Jasmin (Twinkle Khanna) and falls in love with her. While working there, Raju realises that Poplet (Girish Dhamija) and elder brother (Avtar Gill) of Mr. Malhotra (Saurabh Shukla), the owner of company where he works, are conspiring against him. Raju decides to save Mr. Malhotra from it, and thus win a place for himself in his company. When Raju realises that David Rathod (Akshay Anand), an FBI Officer who was to come to Malhotra’s company for investigation will be coming after few days, He makes use of this chance and comes to the company in David’s disguise. What Raju doesn’t realise is that he has caught the attention of Poplet, who is now conspiring against him too. Will Raju prove to be Mr. Malhotra’s saviour? Will he make it big in the big bad world of Mumbai finally?
