Synopsis: Asha, daughter of a mult-imillionaire who is settled in New York-comes to Bangalore to meet her grandfather. During her stay she falls in love with Anand, who is an ordinary bus conductor. Asha’s father, summons Asha and Anand to New York, to meet Anand. Fearing that rich father may not approve of their aliance, Asha and Anand get married before proceeding to New York. Asha’s father had arranged their Air Trip from Bangalore to Bombay to New York. Due to some technical defect, Bangalore/Bombay flight lands Ahmedabad. Asha and Anand travel by train from Ahmedabad to Bombay. They meet a village girl Seeta in the train who is going to Bombay to meet her husband after 5 years. After landing Bombay Central, they come to know that there is BOMBAY BANDH and no conveyance s available for them City is in grip of goondaism. Seeta is caught by goonda’s and commits suicide to save her modesty. Seeta’s husband was disheartened when he did not find Seeta at station. He also falls victim to Gonda’s and die. Ananad and Asha are also caught by rowdy elements. They both are saved by a mill-worker out of job. Govind immolates himself when his wife reprimands him for bringing unwanted guests in the house while they themselves are facing hand-to-mouth existence. Radha regrets her taunting tirade and begs neighbours to save her husband. Due to Bombay Bandh no Taxi is available to take Govind to hospital for immediate medical aid. Govind dies-Radha becomes widow. . Anand and Asha face many hazards and coincidentally takes shelter in Air conditioned car of the leader who was responsible for Bombay Bandh Anand is very much moved by the chaotic conditions which prevail Bombay city due to meaningless Bandh. He experiences the sufferings of fellow human beings due to such destructive actions of some misguided human beings. He vows to remain in India and devote his life to eradicarte this disease which is responsible for destroying the values and human character.
