Synopsis: Gauri(Rekha) loves Anand(Jitendra) and so does Shyama(Shabana). Rekha and Sabana the rivals in love, are close friends. Their friendship proves to be stronger than their love. When Rekha learns that Shabana loves Jitendra she decides to sacrifice her love, her dream, her life of Shabanas happiness. She even forgets that she is carrying the child of her lover in her womb. But Shabanas father, Utpal Dutt, who is defeated in the elections by the active opposition of Jitendra, is out to ruin him. Dr. Lagoo a simple honest man, is married to a very cunning and greedy Nadira. Utpal Dutt makes use of Nadiras greed as a weapon to destroy Jitendra and his family. He succeeds in seperating Jitendra from Parikshit Sahni, his loving elder brother, and before Jitendras helpless eyes, Parikshit is thrown out of the house. . At this juncture blood cancer enters the story. Utpal Dutt is crushed under the weight of the brutal word – Cancer, which has afflicted his only daughter. He decides to give her the supreme happiness of getting the man she loves but Shabana decides otherwise when she comes to know that Jitendra loves Rekha.
