Synopsis: Raja Thakur (Sunil Dutt) was a dacoit but also a saviour to women in distress. People in the village had great respect for his mother Thakurain (Veena). His father Chandan Singh was killed by Lala, a moneylender. So Raja could not complete his studies. When Bhawar Singh misbehaved with a girl of the village, he forced him to marry her. There he saw Jania (Rekha) a courtesan, who seemed to be from a respectable family. She refused the money that he offered her for her dance. The rumour spread that Jania was his mistress and she was thus detained by the police as a suspected accomplice. In reality Jania was Sheetal, Seth Dhanraj (Iftekar)’s daughter. His first wife was killed by Jagmohan (Madanpuri) and he had re-married. There after he planned to kidnap her and murder her with the help of some criminals. But the Don sold her off to Chandabai and Ustad Mangal. When Dhanraj Seth came to know from Inspector that Sheetal was alive as Jania and was with some dacoit, he met the Thakurain and she promised him that his daughter would be returned to him duly. When Raja Thakur brought her back, the Don’s people killed Thakurain and took away Janiya. Raja Thakur promised to get her back to Seth Dhanraj. To keep up his promise he came to the city and found a link through Seth Dharamdas (Jeevan) whom he knew as a suppliers of arms. He exposed Jagmohan to Seth Dhanraj. Raja Thakur surrendered himself to the police after rescuing Sheetal.
