Synopsis: This story is about five criminals who were taken by the inspector-in-charge Vijay (Girish Karnad) for help to a village where a dacoit named Daku Mangal Singh harasses the villagers for lagaan. Inspector Vijay take those criminals on his own risk as the higher authority denies his approval. Daku Mangal Singh (Ranjit) also exploits women in the village. Once when Vijay got transferred to that village he encountered Daku Mangal Singh and at the same time, Vijay’s wife and son lost their life. So he made a plan to set the village free of the menace. Does Vijay succeed in his mission?
