Synopsis: Bharat Ghayal (Arbaaz khan)lives a wealthy lifestyle along with his brother, Dr. Ram Prasad (Amitabh), and his sister-in-law, Janki (Dimple kapadia), who had made a promise to his dying mother that she will look after him as her own son. Years later, Bharat has grown up, is in love with Renuka Jain,(Karishma kapoor) and wants to marry her. He introduces her to Ram and Janki, who approve of her. Renuka’s dad, Umed Jain (tiku talsania), also approves of this alliance and a date is set for the engagement. Before that could happen, Bharat is caught red-handed being intimate with a woman named Rajni, who is subsequently killed. Inspector Dhanapani arrests Bharat on the charge of murder, as his finger-prints are found on the gun, as well he bears marks of Rajni’s finger-nails and teeth when she had tried to fight him off. The trial goes to the Courts, before any verdict is reached, Bharat is found hanging in his cell, apparently having committed suicide. Janki is unable to bear this shock and passes away, leaving Ram alone, devastated, who ultimately turns to alcohol. Renuka gets married to Raja Tunga (deepak tijori) and settles down to a married life. Then Ram and Renuka’s paths cross when Raja is gravely injured and the only doctor who can save him is Ram. But Renuka is apprehensive about this and wants some other doctor to treat Raja. Before she could take any steps, Ram performs surgery – resulting in his death, and the Police arresting Ram and holding him in the very cell that Bharat had hanged himself. It is here that Ram finds out Bharat had not killed himself, but was assaulted and killed. The question remains, what can an alcoholic doctor, who has done little else other than save his patients’ lives, do under such circumstances
