Synopsis: Geeta and Ranjeet (Sujit Kumar) are unhappily married. A drunkard Ranjeet refuses to accept Geeta, a highly religious woman, as his wife. Geeta soon realizes that the only way to get her husband’s love is to change herself. But when she does so, Ranjeet, in his drunken state, thinks of her as Champa, the prostitute and they make love. Soon after he goes off to Delhi with the real Champa.Back home, Geeta gives birth to a girl and names her Jyoti. But when her husband disowns her and accuses her of bearing someone else’s child, Geeta is compelled to go to Swamiji’s house. Will Shankar ever realize his faults?
