Synopsis: Surjit Singh (Anil Dhawan) is an ordinary farmer. One day, he gets to know that his sister Shalini (Ketki Dave) is in love with Thakur Manjit Singh, the younger brother of Thakur Gajendra Singh (Mohan Joshi) and is pregnant. Surjit goes to Gajendra Singh, hoping that he would allow Shalini as their daughter-in-law. Gajendra in turn humiliates Surjit and asks him to eat meat, which Surjit despite being a Brahmin eats helplessly. Gajendra asks him to do the arrangements of the marriage. Next day however, Gajendra kills both Surjit and his wife. Before dying,Surjit takes a promise from Shalini that She will get his sons Raju and Kishen married to both the daughters of Thakur. Years later, Raju (Ajay Devgan) and Kishen (Arshad Warsi) have grown up and have reached the marriagable age. They even succeed in trapping Thakur’s daughters Megha (Neha) and Preeti (Mayuri Kango). But before they go any further, they come to know that Thakur has already arranged his daughters’ marriage with the minister’s sons. Will Shalini live upto her promise?
