Synopsis : Bhavna is the story of a woman name ‘Bhavna’ (Shabana Azmi). More or less its the real story of any woman in this country who are suffering from similar situation. Bhavna was a middle class woman staying alone in the city. One day she met one guy Ajay Kapoor(Marc Zuber) in a garden who was making a sketch of her. That meet turn into friendship & later they both fall in love with each other & get married, but without the permission of Ajay’s dad. As days pass, Ajay has some financial crisis as he was just a jobless painter. He went alone to meet his dad who was staying in another city. Days passed into months & Ajay didn’t came back. So, Bhavna decided to go directly there. But there she sees that Ajay is already married with another woman of his Dad’s choice. Bhavna gets really upset & ran away from there. She started staying at her friend, Shobha’s (Rohini Hattangadi) place. She decides to work somewhere, but as an ordinary woman gets molested in office by her boss Mr. Sinha(Satish Shah). The owner of that company Mr. Ram Kishenji(Saeed Jaffery) was a very well known & reputed person in the community. He had given her job in his house only as a governess of their children. But after few days, when Ramkishen’s wife & their children were out of station. He took a chance & raped Bhavna. Depressed, angry & biiter, Bhavna filed a complaint against Mr. Ramkishen. But as Ramkishen was a social activist & a politician too, he questioned the character of Bhavna. Bhavna delivered a child name Anil & now his school fees & all the money which she wanted that her son would live his life in comfort & become a good human being with some good profession. So she decided to become a escort or call girl in high society. After some years, Ajay returned back to take his child back so that he can run their future business. Bhavna denies & then Ajay stole all the money from Bhavna which she had saved for her child’s future. In the fight, Bhavna killed Ajay & went to police station to surrender. Meanwhile she gave her child to her friend & all the money for both their future. She is sentenced to 14 yrs of imprisonment & after the 14yrs when she leaving from jail, she finds that her child is now a prestigious, well behaved & well respected doctor in the community. She was living for just seeing this only & she died soon at her son’s lap. Deeply emotional & a brilliant film with stunning performance by Shabana Azmi.
