Giddh l Smita Patil, Om Puri l 1984

Synopsis : This is a hard hitting, realistic film set in the milieu of the superstitious & ritual ridden villages of India. Young girls from a particular caste are the prey for the rich men & the landlords of the village, who prey on them like vultures. Laxmi is one such victim. Nana Patekar is a pimp who specializes in procuring these girls for the brothels in Bombay Patil is the local pimp who deals with these girls in the village. Laxmi is being targeted by the pimp from Bombay and also by the landlord of the village (Achyut Potdar), while the local pimp (Om Puri) and his Prostitute wife (Smita Patil) want to save her. What will happen to Laxmi?
