.ReteP (2009)

Directed by: Mathijs Geijskes | 4 minutes | short film | Actors: Martijn Nieuwerf, Audrey Bolder, Caroline van Houten, Marloes te Riele

Everyone has the feeling of being stuck in a rut at some point in their life. Do you want to continue this way? Do you want to approach your life completely differently? But how? The main character Peter, aka .reteP, also struggles with these recognizable questions. Because everything in this film is upside down. The idea for this film is actually quite simple. The effect is even simpler. The story has no meaning, it is about a man who is in a rut. He sits at home at the table, he brushes his teeth, he does normal, daily things, only everything is turned around. This simple but effective effect ensures that this film has a lot of laughs. It’s also a comical sight when Peter brushes his teeth and takes the toothbrush out of his mouth with the toothpaste still on it. The movie is fun and entertaining, but nothing special. Great to have a laugh with, but then you’ve had it and the film itself ends up in a rut.
