Having just recovered from the events of his first feature film, Puss finds himself once again in a new adventure in the animated short ‘The Three Diablos’, which is an extra on the DVD and Blu-ray of ‘Puss in Boots’ (‘The Puss in Boots’). cat’). Unceremoniously and without his knowing what he is arrested for by a couple of soldiers. It turns out that Princess Alessandra Bellagamba needs his help tracking down the crook who stole her crown jewel. Puss is probably the only one who can extract the necessary information from the three diablos, three dangerous, ruthless kittens, who are now trapped and look sweet, but nevertheless manage to instill fear in everyone. The tough Puss, however, is hardly impressed by the trio. The three kittens simply wind Puss around their little furry paws, but that costs him dearly…
‘The Three Diablos’ is a short but entertaining adventure with a lot of momentum. Unlike the main movie, ‘Puss in Boots’, the action here is meant to propel the story forward, while in Puss’s theatrical film, the action sequences often felt like they had been put in because it was time for some action again. ‘The Three Diablos’ also contains some nice finds. For example, the thief of the ruby heart has a very funny character, which is used to the full here. And the three kittens have mastered the trick Puss regularly uses to convince people of his innocence better than himself. That the story is a bit simple and the character development of the three diablos goes a bit too fast and therefore unbelievable, is a pity, but not insurmountable.
You should not miss ‘The Three Diablos’ if you are a fan of animation films and certainly not if you have a passion for Puss. And who knows, maybe the three diablos will get their own spin-off…
