Review: P!nk: All I Know So Far (2021)

P!nk: All I Know So Far (2021)

Directed by: Michael Gracey | 99 minutes | documentary, biography, music | Starring: P!nk, Carey Hart, Willow Sage Hart

In the Amazon production ‘P!nk: All I Know So Far’ we follow the daily life of singer P!nk during her world tour of 2019. Daily life, i.e. arriving with husband and children at the Amstel Hotel, a pour a glass of champagne, go to the arena for a sound check and pray with the dancers before the performance. Every now and then a hoverboarding kid comes along, or a glowing song from P!nk’s impressive catalog, such as ‘Get The Party Started’. ’20 Days to Wembley’, it reads on screen. Eat this, Amsterdam.

You read it already: creator Michael Gracey (‘The Greatest Showman’) was embedded, although you should not look for anything ambiguous behind it. You shouldn’t try that anyway, given the number of Mr. P!nk, who is always there to support his prima donna. Irony aside, ‘All I Know So Far’ is a typical American success story, that of a rough shell, white spirit or professional woman, who wants to give the best of herself to the audience and family in the concert routine. And yet every now and then you would like her to smash a window, or to hijack an Amsterdam canal boat in a drunken stupor.

You could well imagine that with P!nk, but those days are far behind her, or the editing has not come through. In both cases, the zeitgeist is missed. Authenticity is a requirement, you won’t get there without waves. Then this documentary will only reach fans. Apparently that target group is large enough for the safe option. mr. P!nk (motorcycle racer Carey Hart) patiently stays in the background in this documentary, but does not radiate much zest for life. It is the energetic wife who wants the cameras rolling, because she is living her dream and it should be seen.
