Review: Octapodi (2007)

Octapodi (2007)

Directed by: Julien Bocabeille, Olivi Chanioux, Francois Xavier | 2 minutes | animation, short film

A sublimely drawn film about two octopuses who comically manage to escape from the chef of a restaurant who wants them to end up on a plate. In their attempts to escape, they must overcome almost insurmountable obstacles, and even then the fight to stay together isn’t over. The environment of the white Greek villages with the narrow streets is well taken. ‘Oktapodi’ is an atmospheric film, beautifully drawn and with a humorous effect. The way in which the two octopuses finally manage to escape is cunning and well portrayed.
