Review: Dark Hoser (2017)

Dark Hoser (2017)

Animators: Pete Levin, Brett Long, Sean Willets | 2 minutes | animation, short film, comedy, family

‘Dark Hoser’ (2017) is one of four original animated shorts to appear on the DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray of ‘The Lego Batman Movie’.
The two-minute video shows Batman applying for a position with the Justice League America. According to the interviewer, he doesn’t make much of it, because he gives all Canada-related answers. So Batman is more suited for a job with the Justice League Canada. And so it happened…

‘Dark Hoser’ isn’t really funny, unless you can laugh about the fact that Batman clearly doesn’t feel like his new job and country. The Canadians are slightly ridiculed (as can be seen from the title, the word ‘hoser’ has a negative association). For children – after all the main target group of ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ this humor passes them by anyway and for them there is not much left, except for a few slapstick moments.
