Review: Gunter Babysitting – Gunter Babysits (2017)
Gunter Babysitting – Gunter Babysits (2017)
Directed by: Adrien Borzakian, Eric Favela | 3 minutes | animation, short film, comedy, family | Original voice cast: Asa Jennings, Caspar Jennings, Leo Jennings, Oscar Jennings, Nick Kroll, Nick Offerman, Reese Witherspoon
Of the three short films that have been added as an extra to the home entertainment version (DVD and Blu-ray) of ‘Sing’, ‘Gunter fits on’ is the most successful. ‘Sing’ was quite a success in 2016, not least because of the countless classic pop songs used in the film. In Gunter Babysits, dancing pig Gunter (Nick Kroll) comes to babysit Norman (Nick Offerman) and Rosita (Reese Witherspoon)’s 25 piglets for an evening. Of course they rock things and Gunter has to use all his (hilarious) singing and dancing skills to get the piglets back in line before their parents return home.
Where ‘Sing’ kept to simple messages and there were not really exciting scenes with a bad guy, the film was also very suitable for the younger children. ‘Gunter takes care’ follows more along those lines. A dancing pig with a funny voice (German accent) is in any case much more fun than the other two characters who get the lead role in their own short film (the glass-eyed lizard Miss Crawley and slacker Eddie). So more Gunter!
